20 WAYS TO PRACTISE SELF-LOVE

L
earning to love ourselves can be a pretty hard journey to embark on, it may take a while or it could happen just like that. However, there are ways to practise self-love on a daily basis which can have a major effect on the way we think and feel about ourselves. We must think of ourselves as we would our best friend or a loved one, how we lift them up when they are down, how we tell them they are worthy of the very best, how we compliment them, are kind to them, and.... you get the gist. We must say and do to ourselves what we say and do to our loved ones.
During 2016 I realised just how important self-love and self-care is and it is so important. So I hope these 20 ways can help you practise self-love and support you on your journey of self-love.

1. Treat yourself (maybe to something sassy - like a piece of lingerie or maybe that beautiful eyeshadow palette you've been eyeing up).

2. Tell yourself 'I am an amazing, worthy, beautiful human being and full of all things sugar, spice and all things nice'.

3. Write down a list of things you love about yourself and read them back to yourself every morning and night.

4. Take time to yourself to relax. Run a bath, pour a glass of wine (or a hot chocolate) and unwind.

5. Step out of your comfort zone and try something new - find a hobby that you love to do and makes you smile.

6. Stop comparing yourself to others.

7. Have a daily dance around your room and express yourself.

8. Every night, write down what you are thankful for.

9. Buy yourself some fresh flowers.

10. Watch a feel-good movie.

11. Read a good book.

12. Take regular breaks throughout your day and get some fresh air in your lungs.

13. Cut out the toxic people in your life.

14. Spend quality time with your friends and loved ones.

15. Stop saying 'yes' to people and things you really want to say 'no' to.

16. Compliment yourself on a daily basis.

17. Remember not to be too hard on yourself. You made a mistake? Tell yourself 'Everything will be fine' like you would tell others.

18. Go to the theatre.

19. Light your favourite candle or incense and take a few minutes to breathe in and breathe out.

20. Celebrate all victories. Small or big.

What are your ways of practising self-love?

Lot's of love, Soph x

  2. These are really good ways to practice self love Sophie! Loving myself has been a journey. I often like to spend time with the people that love me, and forgive those who don't. I know not everyone will like me and that is fine with me. Its a tough thing to love yourself but I hope everyone gets to that point xx

  5. I love this. I struggle big time with self-love as I'm the type of person who would put everyone else first and have me left out, but I will take some off your list and put them into practice because it's important to take care of ourselves :)

  9. Aw we all need a little bit of self-love and self-care in our lives, and this is such a lovely uplifting post! My friend and I used to always 'treat ourselves' every time we made it through a whole day of lectures - with a doughnut, a new top, some makeup... safe to say our bank accounts weren't too healthy after that! But even doing little free things helps so much. I LOVE the idea of having a little dance in your room and writing down what you're thankful for. One of my fave treats is having a bubble bath when I've come back from the cold outside! I'll keep this saved for one of those meh days that seem to happen too often in January/Feb. Thanks lovely! xxxxx
