November 01, 2017 Ipswich, UK

A few weeks ago, my friend and I decided to go to Prezzo for dinner and a catch up. A number of restaurants opened towards the end of last year in Ipswich, including Prezzo (being an avid foodie, I'm yet to try a few out which I'm very disappointed in myself for). Neither of us had been before so we were both excited to try it out. We were also swayed by their amazing set menu that they had on offer at the time - three courses for just under £15!

We went on a Friday evening, and it was fairly quiet when we arrived, luckily we had booked a table because people were soon filling up the restaurant with a few being turned away due to the restaurant being so busy. As a major foodie, deciding what I want off of the menu (even with the menu being a set menu with only a few options to chose from) is a major struggle because I want everything.

We opted to start with crab cakes and I also ordered garlic bread. We both ordered the house white wine (along with diet coke's) which was lovely and it really complimented the crab cakes. I have been raving about the crab cakes ever since, they were gorgeous! When I think of crab cakes I imagine them as flat and round but these were shaped like balls and for me, the portion size was very generous. The crab cakes were served with garlic mayonnaise, mixed leaves and lemon. If you like fish, I highly recommend you try Prezzo's crab cakes! The garlic bread (which I didn't really need but my eyes are too big for my belly!) was also delicious. It wasn't too crispy or too soft.
For mains, my friend chose spaghetti with king prawns and I opted for spaghetti carbonara. I was blown away by how delicious the carbonara was. I felt like I had teleported to Italy, it was the best carbonara I have tasted to date (my Slimming World friendly version has nothing on Prezzo's unfortunately). Again, the portion size was very generous and I did struggle to finish it (that may be due to me having two starters..). But I would rather have too much than not enough!
Of course, I wasn't too full for dessert! We both opted for the honeycomb smash cheesecake which was topped with crunchy honeycomb pieces coated in chocolate. I love anything honeycomb so of course I loved this dessert. Desserts can be very touch and go in terms of it being too sickly but this dessert was just right!

The restaurant decor was stylish, sleek and contemporary and the service was fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Prezzo and I will definitely be returning. I am so impressed with the quality of all of the dishes that I had, especially as all three courses cost me under £15!

The Prezzo that we visited was Unit A3.2 Buttermarket Shopping Centre, St Stephens Lane, Ipswich, Suffolk IP1 1DT.
